Q: Are Artichokes OK on a heart healthy diet?
A: 
The artichoke is a delicious and convenient way to meet several key nutrient recommendations.  It is a low-calorie, nutrient-rich vegetable and is a great source of antioxidants.  Just one medium artichoke is an excellent source of fiber and vitamin C, and a good source of folate and magnesium. Additionally, artichokes have no fat, cholesterol or trans fat, which are all very important in a heart healthy meal plan.
