Q: I have ulcerative colitas and on low fiber diet. Everything I eat is below 6% fiber. If I only eat the end of the leaves of an artichoke is there that much fiber, or is most of the fiber in the heart?
A:
According to the USDA, one medium, cooked Artichoke (120 grams) provides approximately 10 grams of fiber, 20 percent or more of the Daily Value for fiber.

One-half cup cooked Artichoke Hearts (84 grams) provides approximately 7 grams of fiber.

As seen above, the heart does contain more fiber than the leaves.
